Description

This concise, double sided rack card teaches readers that genital warts are an incurable infection caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). Most infections occur in men and women between 20 and 24 years old. Additionally, there are 5.5 million new cases occur each year. It notes that the infection can be transmitted through all forms of sex, and by any skin to skin contact. Most people with the virus don’t have symptoms.

The card describes how herpes is transmitted as well as listing the symptoms. Herpes can be contracted from a sex partner who does not have a visible sore or who may not know he or she is infected. Women are also warned that HPV can be a precursor to cervical cancer. Avoiding all sexual contact and limiting sex to one uninfected partner are the recommended prevention strategies. However, condom use is advocated for the limited protection it offers.
